457 Cleveland Browns +2.5
Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets

Sometimes the standings tell you one story, while the betting line tells you another.

Cleveland enters Sunday’s matchup riding a three-game winning streak, improving to 3-1 after victories over Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, the Jets have dropped three consecutive games after winning their season opener.

Yet New York is laying points at home.

The Browns have quietly developed an identity built around defensive pressure and finding ways to win close games. All three victories have come by four points or fewer, including their 27-24 win over Pittsburgh.

That defensive pressure could be particularly important against a Jets offense struggling to establish consistency. New York managed just 157 total yards against Chicago last weekend, and its inability to establish a reliable running game has placed additional pressure on quarterback Geno Smith.

Cleveland’s defense enters the matchup generating pressure on 41.5% of opposing dropbacks, one of the NFL’s better marks. Against an offense already struggling to sustain drives, that presents a significant challenge.

The Browns also benefit from additional preparation time following their Thursday night victory over Pittsburgh.

And there’s another number worth considering: Cleveland is 6-1 against the spread over its last seven games.

With a projected low-scoring matchup and a total hovering around 39.5, every possession becomes increasingly valuable. Cleveland has demonstrated it can compete in tight games, while New York has yet to establish the offensive consistency necessary to justify laying points against a physical opponent.

We see little separating these teams, and Cleveland has already demonstrated an ability to win games decided in the final minutes.

We’ll take the points with the Browns, with an outright victory certainly within reach.
